Faringdon
Faringdon is a historical market community in the Vale of White Horse, Oxfordshire, England. Within the historic boundaries of Berkshire, it is 18 miles (29 kilometres) south-west of Oxford, 10 miles (16 kilometres) north-west of Wantage and also 12 miles (19 kilometres) east-north-east of Swindon. It is a big parish, its lowest parts reaching the River Thames in the north as well as its highest ground getting to the Ridgeway in the south. Faringdon was the westernmost town in Berkshire until the 1974 boundary adjustments transferred it to Oxfordshire. On 1 February 2004, Faringdon was provided Fairtrade Town status, as the initial Fairtrade Town in South East England. It is the base for Faringdon Enterprise Gateway, which aids and advises organisations in rural west Oxfordshire.
