Parquet Flooring in Wirral
Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive design over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely elegant flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a multitude of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor may come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which function several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed by using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company will be able to recommend the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
