Parquet Flooring in Cardiff
Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to create a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is an exceptionally elegant flooring solution which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the attractive pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a huge variety of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring can come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed by using a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company will be able to recommend the most suitable wood types and patterns for your home.
