Parquet Flooring in Pentre
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to produce a distinctive pattern across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is a very elegant flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the attractive pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet is available in a wide variety of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a huge selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring will come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is often installed using a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive.
