Parquet Flooring in Woodstock
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to make a distinctive design over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is an extremely stylish flooring solution which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from an enormous selection of different woods, but oak is the most popular, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed using a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and styles for your home.
