Parquet Flooring in Witney
Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive design over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely elegant flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best exhibited. Parquet is available in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from an enormous variety of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring will come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed by using a series of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An expert parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
