Parquet Flooring in Surrey
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to create a distinctive design over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally fashionable flooring solution which works best in large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best displayed. Parquet is available in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a wide selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor can come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed using a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company will be able to recommend the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.
