Parquet Flooring in Woking
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to create a distinctive pattern across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet is available in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is a very stylish flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in numerous different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from an enormous selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring will come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed utilising a number of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet floor company will be able to recommend the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.
