Parquet Flooring in Southam
Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to create a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very fashionable flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from an enormous range of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor may come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet floor company can recommend the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
