Parquet Flooring in Bromsgrove
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to create a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally stylish flooring option which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best showcased. Parquet is available in a multitude of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from an enormous range of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor can come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is often installed using a series of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company can recommend the most suitable wood types and styles for your home.
