Parquet Flooring in Herne Bay
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive design across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to give the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very elegant flooring option which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a huge selection of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed utilising a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive.
