Parquet Flooring in Broadstairs
Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to generate a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet is available in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally fashionable flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive range of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor will come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed utilising a number of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and styles for your home.
