Parquet Flooring in Birchington

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to produce a distinctive design over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to give the same appearance. Parquet floor is an exceptionally fashionable flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive pattern can be best displayed. Parquet is available in numerous different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from an enormous array of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed by using a number of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet flooring company will be able to advise you of the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.
