Parquet Flooring in East Of England
Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to produce a distinctive pattern across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is a very stylish flooring solution which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best displayed. Parquet is available in a wide variety of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which function several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed utilising a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and styles for your home.
