Parquet Flooring in Basildon
Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to produce a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet is available in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring option which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best exhibited. Parquet is available in a multitude of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a huge range of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring can come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which function several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is often installed by using a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive.
