Parquet Flooring in Norfolk
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is a very elegant flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best displayed. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from an enormous selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is typically installed using a number of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company can recommend the most suitable wood types and styles for your home.
