Parquet Flooring in Bedford
Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to generate a distinctive design over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet is available in larger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally stylish flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best displayed. Parquet is available in numerous different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a wide array of different woods, but oak is the most popular, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed by using a series of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet floor company can recommend the most suitable wood types and styles for your home.
