Ambleside
Ambleside is a community in Cumbria, in North West England. Historically in Westmorland, it is located ahead of Windermere, England's largest all-natural lake. The community is within the Lake District National Park. Ambleside is administered by South Lakeland District Council as well as forms part of the Lakes civil church but from 1894 to 1935 it was a different urban district council. Ferryboats (still referred to as "cleaners", although currently diesel powered) run to Bowness-on-Windermere as well as Lakeside supplying great views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Ambleside is a base for hiking, mountaineering and also hill biking. It has a variety of resorts, bed and breakfast, pubs as well as restaurants in addition to stores. Particularly, there are a number of stores marketing tools for pedestrians and also mountain climbers in the community. Ambleside is a prominent beginning factor for the Fairfield horseshoe, a hillwalking ridge walking. Ambleside is also residence to the head office of Brathay Exploration Group, a youth charity based simply beyond Clappersgate when driving to Hawkshead. The album CSI: Ambleside, by Birkenhead-based band Fifty percent Male Half Biscuit, is named after the community.
