Parquet Flooring in Seascale
Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to generate a distinctive pattern over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is an extremely elegant flooring option which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from an enormous selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor can come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is often installed utilising a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive.
