Parquet Flooring in Penrith

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive design over the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is a very elegant flooring solution which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a multitude of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from an enormous variety of different woods, but oak is the most popular, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed using a number of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company can suggest the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.

Penrith

Penrith is a market town and civil parish in the English county of Cumbria. It lies less than 3 miles beyond the limits of the Lake District National Park. The town is located in the Eden Valley, which is north of the River Eamont. Other local rivers surrounding the town include the River Lowther and the River Petteril, linked by the Thacka Beck that goes through the middle of the town in a partially man-made watercourse. Thacka Beck Nature Reserve significantly provides flood storage, which offers a kind of safety to the homes and businesses in Penrith. Typically a part of Cumberland, the town's regional authority is, at present, Eden District Council, with its administrative head office being based in the town. Between 1974 and 2015, Penrith had no town council of its own and was an unparished area, with the very first elections to the Penrith civil parish happening on 7th May 2015. Relating to population assessments carried out in 2012, the town has a permanent population of around 15200. Archaeological discoveries have presented considerable evidence to support the claim that settlements have existed in the area since the Roman period. It was the home of the Roman fort of Voreda, and excavation of a section of the Roman road from Manchester to Carlisle revealed the Roman design of the road, with cobbles from the region being used to build the surface of the road. Apart from the remarkable backdrop of the area, a variety of landmarks and buildings attract visitors to the town. One such example is the ruins of Penrith Castle, dating back to the 14th and 16th centuries, which is open to the general public by English Heritage. For all your home upgrades, make certain to make use of trusted contractors in Penrith to make certain of quality.
