Parquet Flooring in Lancaster
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive pattern across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely stylish flooring option which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best displayed. Parquet is available in numerous different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from an enormous array of different woods, but oak is the most popular, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which function several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive.
