Parquet Flooring in Fleetwood
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to create a distinctive pattern across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally fashionable flooring option which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best displayed. Parquet is available in numerous different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a huge variety of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor may come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is typically installed utilising a number of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
