Parquet Flooring in Halesowen
Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to make a distinctive pattern across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally elegant flooring option which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best displayed. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring will come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is often installed by using a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company will be able to recommend the most appropriate wood types and styles for your home.
