Parquet Flooring in Glyncoch
Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to generate a distinctive design over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet is available in larger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is an exceptionally stylish flooring solution which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best displayed. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a wide range of different woods, but oak is the most popular, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring can come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive.
