Saxmundham
Saxmundham is a small market community in Suffolk, England, embeded in the valley of the River Fromus about 18 miles (29 km) north-east of Ipswich and also 5 miles (8.0 kilometres) west of the shore at Sizewell. The community is bypassed by the A12. It is offered by Saxmundham train station on the East Suffolk Line. Saxmundham Town Council comes under the new East Suffolk District. It was previously in Suffolk Coastal District. The area electoral ward additionally has the name Saxmundham. Its population at the 2011 census was 4,913. The community's name supposedly derives from the Old English "Seizmond's Home". The earliest recorded reference of Saxmundham remains in the Domesday Book of 1086 which states 3 churches. It has had a market charter considering that at least 1272 and carries on the custom to this particular day.
