Parquet Flooring in Fleet
Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive pattern across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring solution which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best displayed. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from an enormous selection of different woods, but oak is the most popular, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring comes in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed by using a series of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet floor company can suggest the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
