Parquet Flooring in East Midlands
Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to make a distinctive design across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is an exceptionally fashionable flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from an enormous range of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed using a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet floor company can suggest the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
