Parquet Flooring in Worksop
Parquet flooring is a kind of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to create a distinctive pattern across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is a very fashionable flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best displayed. Parquet comes in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a massive range of different woods, but oak is the most popular, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring will come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed utilising a series of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
