Parquet Flooring in Derbyshire
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to create a distinctive design over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally fashionable flooring solution which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best showcased. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from an enormous selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed utilising a series of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive.
