Parquet Flooring in Loughborough
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to create a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring option which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best displayed. Parquet is available in a multitude of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed using a number of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive.
