Parquet Flooring in Spalding
Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive pattern across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be bought in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is a very stylish flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best displayed. Parquet is available in a wide variety of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a massive variety of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring will come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed by using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company will be able to suggest the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.
