Annan
Annan is a community and also previous royal burgh in Dumfries and Galloway, south-west Scotland. Historically part of Dumfriesshire, its public buildings consist of Annan Academy, of which the writer Thomas Carlyle was a student, and a Georgian building now called "Bridge House". The City center was built in Victorian design in 1878, making use of the neighborhood sandstone. Annan also features a Historic Resources Centre. In Port Street, some of the home windows remain blocked as much as avoid paying the window tax. Yearly on the first Saturday in July, Annan commemorates the Royal Charter and also the limits of the Royal Burgh are verified when a mounted cavalcade undertakes the Riding of the Marches.
