Extensions such as garage conversions will usually require additional damp proofing to be added as part of conversion, as the pre-existing garage normally has a single skin design for walls and floors, which was not designed to conform to building regulations for habitable rooms. This damp proofing will have to be put into walls and floors. Additionally, the roofing of the garage conversion will require water proofing. The damp proofing for the floor of the garage conversion will in most cases be achieved by employing a damp proof membrane. This membrane is available in either solid or liquid form. The damp proof membrane will be put down either on top of the pre-existing concrete floor, underneath the new floor, or as part of both, depending on if the floor will be a solid or a floating floor. In a few garages, the walls have already been damp proofed, but this might have to be updated as part of the conversion in order to meet current building regulations. The walls will need to be damp proofed in order to safeguard the brickwork from rotting gradually as moisture sets in. This is done by either applying damp proof membranes, waterproof rendering, or cavity insulation, depending on the type of walls that are already present in the garage. Damp proofing is a part of the building regulations that the garage conversion will need to comply with, and so is it important to make sure that your garage conversion incorporates appropriate damp proofing methods.
The average cost of Damp proofing is £1500. Costs vary based upon the materials and the organisation selected. The upper price range can be as high as £1725. The material costs are in general about £375

Largs is a town on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire in Scotland. It is set approximately 33 miles (53 kilometres) from Glasgow. The original name means "the slopes" (An Leargaidh) in Scottish Gaelic. The town markets itself on its historical connections with the Vikings and an annual fair is held in early September. In accordance with the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of around 11241. Largs expanded from the estates of North Cunninghame over which the Montgomeries of Skelmorlie emerged as temporal lords in the 17th century. Sir Robert Montgomerie built Skelmorlie Aisle in the ancient kirk of Largs in 1636 as a family mausoleum. Today, the monolith is all that stays of the old kirk. From its roots as a modest village around its kirk, Largs became a busy and popular seaside resort in the 19th century. Sizeable hotels were developed and the pier was finished in 1834. It was not up until 1895, nevertheless, that the train made the connection to Largs, which cemented the town's acclaim. It also transformed into a trendy location to live, and several spectacular estates were constructed. The most considerable of which includes 'Netherhall', the home of William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, the physicist and engineer. Despite its reduced status as a vacation resort, much of Largs is still focused towards tourism. There is the award winning Vikingar Centre at Barrfields, an interactive look into the history of Viking life; Kelburn Country Centre, Barrfields Pavilion Theatre, Largs Swimming Swimming Pool, Douglas Park and Inverclyde National Sports Training Centre. It is best known for 'Nardinis', the famous ice cream parlour, cafe and eatery, that dominates the Esplanade and which reopened in late 2008. For all your home improvements, make sure to identify reputable specialists in Largs to make certain of quality.

Signs of rising damp tend to be close to the ground, usually no higher than a metre. It usually works its way up walls in horizontal lines. Penetrating damp usually develops in patches and can often be much higher up. For more advice, speak to a damp proofing professional.
You should make sure that all signs of damp have gone before you redecorate your walls. If you want to paint your walls with a water-permeable emulsion paint, you can usually do this after 1 or 2 months. For other types of decoration you should wait longer.
Damp is a serious problem, particularly if you live in an old property, because it can lead to structural damage. This will cost you big money and could be very dangerous, to yourself and the property. Take damp seriously and get it inspected and resolved as soon as you discover it!
