fresh damp coating to felt roof on extension . approx 6m by 2.5m
Extensions including garage conversions will typically require additional damp proofing to be added through the conversion, as the pre-existing garage will typically have a single skin design for walls and floors, which was not manufactured to conform to building regulations for habitable rooms. This damp proofing will have to be put into walls and floors. In addition, the roof of the garage conversion will require water proofing. The damp proofing for the floor of the garage conversion will in most cases be achieved by using a damp proof membrane. This membrane is available in either solid or liquid form. The damp proof membrane will be put down either on top of the pre-existing concrete floor, underneath the new floor, or as part of both, depending on whether the floor will be a solid or a floating floor. In a few garages, the walls have already been damp proofed, but this might need to be improved as part of the conversion to be able to comply with current building regulations. The walls should be damp proofed in order to protect the brickwork from rotting gradually as moisture sets in. This can be done by either utilising damp proof membranes, waterproof rendering, or cavity insulation, depending on the type of walls that are already in the garage. Damp proofing is a part of the building regulations that the garage conversion should adhere to, and so is it vital to ensure that your garage conversion makes use of suitable damp proofing methods.
The average cost of Damp proofing is £1500. Costs vary based upon the materials and the organisation selected. The upper price range can be as high as £1725. The material costs are in general about £375

Gourock is a town that is within the Inverclyde council area and formerly a burgh of the county of Renfrewshire in the west of Scotland. The town's name originates from the Gaelic term for 'rounded hill', which pertains to the hill above the town. Historically a modest fishing village, Gourock gradually developed into a community centred on herring curing, copper mining, rope making, quarrying, and yacht building and servicing. The town served as a seaside resort on the Firth of Clyde in the second half of the 19th century. Existing structures highlighting this piece of the town's history are steadily being lost, with The Bay Hotel and Cragburn Pavilion being gone from the town since the end of the 20th century. Even so, growth continues to arise along the coast, such as the repair of Castle Leven, with the building of new estates permitting it to be in use as a b&b. Even though further growth is taking place, an area of green belt continues to separate the town from the Cloch lighthouse. Its main function in the present day is as a vibrant property site, with a railway terminus and ferry services. The David MacBrayne Ltd. headquarters sits at the pier, and their Argyll Ferries subsidiary runs a passenger ferry service to Dunoon. Gourock is the the home of one of the 3 public outdoor pool that still exist in Scotland. Developed in 1909 with a sandy floor, the Gourock Outdoor Pool is a modern facility with heated and cleansed sea water. It forms a part of a leisure centre, integrating an enlarged gym and lift accessibility. For all of your home upgrades, make sure to make use of credible specialists in Gourock to make certain of quality.

Damp is a serious problem, particularly if you live in an old property, because it can lead to structural damage. This will cost you big money and could be very dangerous, to yourself and the property. Take damp seriously and get it inspected and resolved as soon as you discover it!
There are a few visible signs of damp, although it often goes undetected. However, in older or empty properties, this made become detectable through its smell. These include peeling paint and wallpaper, crumbling plaster, mould growth, black spots or spores on walls and ceilings, and rotting skirting boards and flooring.
You should make sure that all signs of damp have gone before you redecorate your walls. If you want to paint your walls with a water-permeable emulsion paint, you can usually do this after 1 or 2 months. For other types of decoration you should wait longer.
Signs of rising damp tend to be close to the ground, usually no higher than a metre. It usually works its way up walls in horizontal lines. Penetrating damp usually develops in patches and can often be much higher up. For more advice, speak to a damp proofing professional.
