Wigton
Wigton is a market town in Cumbria, England. Historically in Cumberland, it exists simply outside the Lake District in the district of Allerdale. Wigton goes to the centre of the Solway Plain, in between the Caldbeck Fells and also the Solway coast. It is offered by Wigton train station on the Cumbrian Coast Line, and the A596 road to Workington. The community of Silloth-on-Solway lies twelve miles to the west, beyond Abbeytown. Wigton today is a growing market town, with animals auctions being held consistently at Hopes Auction Company. The main employer is Innovia Films. The community has its own high school, called The Nelson Thomlinson College, which is a well-performing thorough with close links to the Innovia factory. In 2004 the town was the initial settlement in the UK to apply a time limit on teenagers under the age of 16. It remained in location for 2 weeks, and its purpose was to reduce the quantity of vandalism in the town centre. It followed nightly vandalism projects, that included wrecked store fronts, as well as scare tactics of senior members of the neighborhood. The curfew attracted national interest, with the local senior high school obtaining visits from agencies such as Sky News. It had some impact, with less vandalism taking place ever since.
