Parquet Flooring in Yorkshire & Humber
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to generate a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet is available in bigger tiles or planks to give the same effect. Parquet floor is a very stylish flooring solution which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a massive selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed by using a number of tiles which are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet floor company can suggest the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
