Parquet Flooring in Keighley
Parquet flooring is a sort of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to produce a distinctive design over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely elegant flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best displayed. Parquet is available in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive range of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed by using a number of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet floor company will be able to advise you of the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
