Parquet Flooring in Taynuilt
Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to make a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet is available in larger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely stylish flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best showcased. Parquet is available in a multitude of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from an enormous selection of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed by using a series of tiles that are glued to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet floor company will be able to recommend the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.
