Parquet Flooring in Leven
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to create a distinctive pattern over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally elegant flooring product which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best displayed. Parquet is available in a multitude of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive array of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor may come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is typically installed utilising a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet floor company will be able to recommend the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
