Longniddry
Longniddry is a village in East Lothian, Scotland, with a population of 2,613 (2001 census). The Scottish Women's Rural Institute was founded below in 1917. Longniddry is largely a dormitory village for commuters, with excellent transportation web links by road as well as rail (Longniddry train station is on the North Berwick Line) to the capital. The village has a number of neighborhood, community based resources consisting of regional shops and also Longniddry Community Centre, which also houses the collection. Close to the library is the Scout Hall made use of by the Longniddry Scout Group. The fairway hosted the Carling-Caledonian Tournament in 1961. Like lots of seaside towns in East Lothian, Longniddry has a sandy coastline beside the golf links. This stretch of regional shoreline is lined with dunes and known as Longniddry Bents.
