Parquet Flooring in Haddington

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to generate a distinctive pattern across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to give the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very fashionable flooring option which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best displayed. Parquet is available in a wide variety of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a massive range of different woods, but oak is the most popular, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed using a number of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A professional parquet flooring company will be able to suggest the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.
