Tayport
Tayport, also called Ferry-Port on Craig, is a community as well as burgh, and parish, in the area of Fife, Scotland, working as a commuter community for Dundee. The adage of the Burgh is Te oportet alte ferri ("It is incumbent on you to lug on your own high"), a word play here on Tayport at auld Tay Ferry. Tayport lies close to the north east pointer of Fife. To the north it looks across the River Tay to Broughty Ferry and Broughty Castle. To the eastern is the substantial Tentsmuir Nature Reserve, a location of forested dunes measuring some 3 kilometres from eastern to west and also 6 kilometres from north to south and edged by large sands that proceed right round to the mouth of the River Eden. The civil parish of Ferry-Port on Craig has a population of 3,815 (in 2011).
