Blaydon-on-tyne

The town of Blaydon-on-Tyne is positioned in the North East of England within the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead. It was traditionally in County Durham. Referring to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of approximately 15,000, which is a sizeable increase from the roughly 14,648 citizens recorded in the 2001 Census. Blaydon underwent an intensive programme of housing regeneration between 2009 and 2014. This included the improvement of new developments at High View near to the Winlaton-Blaydon border, by the riverside on the site of the former Stella South power station, and at Axwell Gardens, close to the already present Axwell Park estate. Traditionally, the powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution in Gateshead, Blaydon's traditional business is coal mining. As a result of the decline of mining during the 1950s and 1960s, Blaydon now features a much more diversified economy. The majority of the town's citizens are involved in engineering and manufacturing, as well as having a modest amount of commuting professionals. Several organisations work in the offices in Blaydon Haughs, referred to as 'The Spike', which is within the banks of the River Tyne. There are several shopping opportunities for residents in Blaydon's shopping centre, known as the precinct. A brutalist construction from the 1970s, it features most of the town's major outlets, which are generally branches of commercial chain retailers, in addition to food and grocery outlets. The town is also home to a range of landmarks. Stella Hall, dating back to 1143 when there was a nunnery on the site, is a listed building, and Anxwell Hall, built in 1761, is set to be converted into household flats. For all your residence improvement tasks, be sure that you use trusted experts in Blaydon-on-Tyne to make sure that you get a top quality service.
