Parquet Flooring in Whitley Bay
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to produce a distinctive design across the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is an exceptionally elegant flooring solution which is most effective in large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best showcased. Parquet is available in a wide variety of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from an enormous range of different woods, but oak is the most common, along with mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor will come in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed utilising a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company can suggest the most suitable wood types and styles for your home.
