Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to generate a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet is available in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very fashionable flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching design can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a wide variety of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet may also be manufactured from a massive range of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring will come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed by using a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company will be able to suggest the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.
The typical cost of Parquet flooring is £2000. Costs differ based on the materials and the provider selected. The upper price range can be as high as £2300. The material costs are mainly approximately £500
