Parquet Flooring in Munlochy
Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to make a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in bigger tiles or planks to provide the same effect. Parquet floor is an exceptionally stylish flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the attractive design can be best showcased. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from an enormous array of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor may come in either solid wood or engineered wood variations, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed utilising a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet floor company will be able to recommend the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
