Parquet Flooring in Menai Bridge
Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to make a distinctive design over the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip carefully laid, but modern parquet is available in larger tiles or planks to offer the same effect. Parquet floor is an extremely stylish flooring solution which works best in large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best displayed. Parquet comes in a multitude of different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a massive range of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor will come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is usually installed by using a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet floor company can recommend the most appropriate wood types and designs for your home.
