Parquet Flooring in Caernarfon

Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring in which small wood blocks or strips are installed together to produce a distinctive pattern over the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be purchased in larger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is an exceptionally stylish flooring product which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the appealing pattern can be best showcased. Parquet comes in numerous different patterns, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from a massive selection of different woods, but oak is the most popular, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring comes in either solid wood or engineered wood types, the latter of which feature several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed by using a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. A specialist parquet flooring company can recommend the most suitable wood types and styles for your home.

Caernarfon

Caernarfon is a royal town, community, and port in Gwynedd, Wales, with a population of about 10,000. It is on the A487 road, on the eastern shore of the Menai Strait, opposite the Isle of Anglesey. Bangor is 8.6 miles (13.8 kilometres) towards the north east, whilst Snowdonia borders Caernarfon to the east and south-east. Carnarvon and Caernarvon are English spellings of the name that became old fashioned in 1926 and 1974, respectively. The villages of Bontnewydd and Caeathro are close by. Abundant natural resources around the Menai Straits enabled human habitation in prehistoric Britain. The Ordovices, a Celtic tribe, settles in the area throughout the period known as Roman Britain. The Roman fort Segontium was established around AD 80 to subjugate the Ordovices during the Roman conquest of Britain. The Romans controlled the area till Roman rule ended in Britain in 382, and after that Caernarfon became a part of the Kingdom of Gwynedd. During the late 11th century, William the Conqueror ordered the building of a motte-and-bailey castle at Caernarfon as a part of the Norman invasion of Wales. He was unsuccessful, and Wales remained independent until about 1283. During the 13th century, Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, ruler of Gwynedd, refused to pay homage to Edward I of England, prompting the English conquest of Gwynedd. This was followed by the construction of Caernarfon Castle, one of the biggest and most imposing fortifications built by the English in Wales. The city has grown to be a significant tourist centre and seat of Gwynedd Council, with a busy harbour and marina. Caernarfon has expanded beyond its medieval walls and experienced heavy suburbanisation. Its population consists of the biggest percentage of Welsh-speaking citizens anywhere in Wales. The castle and town walls are a part of a World Heritage Site described as the Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd.
