Parquet floor is an extremely fashionable flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the attractive pattern can be best showcased. Parquet is available in a multitude of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from an enormous range of different woods, but oak is the most common, followed by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet flooring may come in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which function several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet floor is durable and demands little maintenance. It is, however, not fit for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is generally installed by using a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive.
