Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed together to produce a distinctive design over the whole of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with every individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet can be bought in larger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is a very elegant flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best exhibited. Parquet floor is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, unsuitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions.
